• TV, stereo, or other electronics

Also nice:

• Side tables

• Bookcases for books, momentos, or decorations

• Accent pillows and napping blankets

The kitchen is straightforward for a first-time renter because a lot of of your bigger items -- like the stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher -- are already included. You only really need a table and chairs for the dining area, but we recommend being able to seat at least four people. Even if you live by yourself, you’ll want to have enough space to eat with friends or family.

Essentials:

• Dining room table and chairs (for at least 4 

• Silverware, plates, and glasses (4 place settings)

• Mugs

• Kitchen scissors, spatula, can opener

• Microwave-if not provided

• A basic skillet or frying pan

• A baking sheet

• A sharp chef knife

• Pot for boiling water

• Oven mitts

Also Nice:

• Shelves or china cabinet for holding extra dishes

• Coffee pot

• Cooking spices

• Dish soap and scrub brush

• plastic or glass storage containers

• Corkscrew, apple corer, and other kitchen tools

• A full knife set

• Mixing bowls and measuring cups

• Food -- It’s always nice to move in with a fully-stocked kitchen

The bathroom isn’t that hard to stock, as the bath tub, toilet, sinks, and mirrors will be there already. If you have a guest bathroom, all you really need is toilet paper, hand soap, and a hand towel. There are only a few basic items needed in your main or master bath, which makes it pretty easy to stock.

Essentials:

• Toilet paper

• Hand soap

• Toothpaste, toothbrush, and other individual sundries

• Shampoo and conditioner

• Bath and hand towels

• Shower liner, curtain, and hooks

• Trash can
